Hud 109–123

The conclusion of Surah Hud contains provision for preachers: remain steadfast despite rejection, not exceed bounds, live simply, and establish commanding right and forbidding wrong for the safety of society.

• Some punishment for those who disbelieve is postponed until the Hereafter, so preaching should not cease merely because its results are not yet visible.
• Acting unjustly and exceeding bounds are forbidden, even toward those who reject preaching.
• Believers are asked not to approve the worship of those who associate partners with Allah and not to be lenient in matters of principle.
• Guarding the obligatory prayers, night prayers, righteous deeds, and patience are mentioned as characteristics of a true preacher, accompanied by the encouragement to live simply.
• The stories of the previous messengers are told to strengthen the heart of Prophet Muhammad, and every good and bad deed is recorded in detail.

Verses 109-117 explain several principles of Islam and Allah's decrees in life. Among them:

1. Do not doubt at all the deviance of the worship of disbelievers and polytheists, for they are truly worshipping gods that are merely inventions of their ancestors, as happened with the community of Prophet Musa before them.
2. Punishment for the disbelievers is postponed by Allah until the Hereafter. Therefore, in preaching one must be steadfast (not cease or deviate) even if all people reject it, and one must not commit injustice or exceed bounds, even toward the disbelievers and polytheists.
3. Allah forbids the believers to approve the worship of the disbelievers and polytheists, to be lenient toward them in matters of principle and to seek their help, except in very limited matters that do not affect the values of Islam. Whoever violates Allah's decree in this matter faces the threat of entering the Fire and will not receive Allah's help in this world or the Hereafter.
4. Guarding the obligatory prayers, night prayers, always doing righteous deeds and being patient with all consequences of preaching are characteristics of a true preacher.
5. Believers in general and preachers in particular must live simply, because those who live extravagantly are only the disbelievers and wrongdoers.
6. A society will be safe if commanding right and forbidding wrong are established and its people obey Allah's system.

Verses 118-123 still continue the theme of several principles of Islam and Allah's decrees in life:

1. Allah is able to make all mankind follow faith and monotheism. However, Allah has left that choice to mankind themselves so that it may be tested who among them obeys Him and who disbelieves in Him.
2. Those who choose monotheism receive Allah's mercy and Paradise. While those who choose disbelief will receive Allah's punishment and the Fire.
3. Allah tells the story of the previous messengers to strengthen the heart of Prophet Muhammad. As for the Qur'an (including this Surah Hud), it contains truth, lessons and warnings for the believers.
4. Go ahead and do good or bad, for everything will be recorded by Allah in detail and neatly.
