Day 164 · Surah Al-Kahfi Verses 46-61

Al-Kahf 46–61

Wealth and children are only worldly adornment while faith and righteous deeds are what one takes back, followed by a description of the Day of Gathering, rebuke for taking Satan as a leader, and the beginning of Musa's journey to the meeting of two seas.

Wealth and children are described as mere worldly adornment; only faith and righteous deeds will be taken back to Allah.
All mankind will be gathered on the Day of Gathering with none forgotten, standing before their Creator alone, then receiving records of their deeds that record both small and great matters.
Satan originated from the jinn and disobeyed when commanded to bow to Adam, so taking him as a leader is a very poor substitute.
The greatest wrongdoer is one who turns away when reminded of Allah's verses and forgets his sins, so his heart is sealed and his ears are stopped.
Allah is Most Forgiving and gives respite so His servants may return, then the story is told of Musa's long journey with his companion to the meeting of two seas.

Verses 46-53 explain five matters:

Wealth and children are only worldly adornment. Only faith and righteous deeds will be taken back to Allah.
On the Day of Resurrection all mankind will be gathered on the Day of Gathering and not one will be forgotten. There all mankind are presented to their Lord Creator
Allah the Most High standing in rows and coming to Him like they were born, that is individually.
On that day the book of deeds of mankind is distributed to them. The disbelievers and sinners are very afraid of its contents and say: Woe to us. This book records all our deeds, small and great. They see directly all the deeds they did in the world and Allah does not wrong anyone in the slightest. But they are the ones who wronged themselves by associating partners with Allah and refusing to obey Allah.
Satan is from the jinn. He disobeyed Allah when commanded to bow to Adam. Why do the idolaters and wrongdoers take him as a leader besides Allah? This is a very poor substitute. Yet Satan and his descendants were not involved in creating the heavens, the earth and not even creating themselves; they were created by Allah. Therefore, Allah does not like it when mankind takes Satan and his descendants as helpers.
On that day the gods of the idolaters will be unable to help them in the slightest. When they see Hell they are certain they will enter it and they cannot escape it in any way.

Verses 54-49 explain the following five:

Allah has made all parables good and bad, right and wrong, idolatry and faith and so forth in the Qur'an. Nevertheless, most of mankind always dispute the truth of Allah and the truth of His book, the Qur'an.
If mankind does not believe in Allah after the Qur'an was sent down to them and does not ask Him for forgiveness for the sins they committed, then await Allah's punishment like what happened to previous nations.
All Messengers were sent by Allah as bringers of good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds and bringers of warning to those who disbelieve in Him and His messengers. The disbelievers dispute with the Messengers using falsehood with the aim of eliminating the revelation they received from Allah. They also mock the verses of Allah.
The greatest wrongdoer is one who turns away when reminded of the verses of Allah and forgets the sins he committed. This attitude causes Allah to seal his heart so he cannot understand His verses and block his ears so he cannot hear His verses.
Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. Otherwise He would certainly punish every sin His servants commit. Allah gives respite so they may return to Him. If not, they will be destroyed just as He destroyed previous nations.

Verses 60-61 explain the story of the journey of the Prophet Musa which was long with his assistant until they reached the meeting of two seas. After arriving there, they forgot the fish they brought.
