Al-Hajj 65–78

A series of Allah's blessings—seas that can be navigated, heavenly bodies held aloft so they do not fall, life and death—are presented against the reality that most mankind still worship besides Him.

Allah has subjected the contents of the earth and ships in the sea for mankind, holds the heavenly bodies so they do not crash to earth, then gives life, causes death, and raises them again.
Each nation is given a way to worship through their messenger, so the disbelievers have no right to dispute the law brought by the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.
Objects of worship other than Allah are described as so powerless that they cannot reclaim something stolen from them by a fly.
Allah chooses messengers from among the angels and from among mankind to convey His commands and prohibitions to their fellow humans.
The believers are called to bow, prostrate, do good, strive hard with true effort, establish prayer and pay zakat, for Islam was not made narrow for them.

Verses 65-72 explain how many mercies Allah has given to mankind. However, most of them do not worship Him with the concept of tauhid that He has sent down through His messengers. Among His kindnesses, He has subjected to mankind what is on the earth, ships that sail in the sea, and He holds the heavenly bodies so they do not fall to earth except by His permission. It is Allah who gives life to mankind, then causes them to die, then gives them life again. Why do they disbelieve in Him?

Allah has prescribed for each nation ways of worship through His messengers. It is not fitting for the disbelievers to dispute the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, about his law. Therefore, Allah commands the Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, to call them to return to Allah according to the straight path that Allah has revealed.

Allah commanded the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, to answer those who persist in blaming his teaching and to tell them: Allah knows what you do. Allah will judge between you regarding what you dispute. Indeed, Allah knows what is in the heavens and on earth. All of it is recorded in His Record. All of that is easy for Him.

The disbelievers worship gods that they have no knowledge of. Worshipping a god other than Allah is a great injustice, so Allah will not help its doer in the hereafter. The signs of disbelief appear on their faces when the verses of Allah are recited to them. They also want to attack those who recite the verses of Allah. Their place is Hellfire. That is an evil abode.

Verses 73-78 explain:

The gods worshipped other than Allah cannot do anything. So powerless are they that if a fly were to snatch something from them, they could not take it back from it. And creating a fly would be even more impossible for them.
Disbelief in Allah occurs when people cannot honor Allah as is befitting and proper. Yet Allah is Most Powerful and Most Mighty.
Allah chose from among the angels messengers to manage this universe, including mankind. Allah also chose from among mankind messengers to convey His commands and prohibitions to their fellow humans so they may be saved in this world and the hereafter. Verily, Allah is All-Hearing and All-Seeing of the needs of His servants toward their salvation in this world and the hereafter. To Him alone mankind will be returned.
Allah calls the believers to bow, prostrate, worship Allah, and do good as much as possible. That is the way for them to gain Allah's help.
Among the other obligations of the believers is to strive in the way of Allah with true striving, that is, with maximum effort, with reasons and purposes that Allah permits as explained in verses 39 and 40 before. Verily, being chosen by Allah to follow the Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, is a very great blessing.
Allah has not made Islam difficult. Islam is also the religion of Ibrahim. Allah named those who follow Islam "Muslims" from long ago and also in the Qur'an, so that the Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, would be a witness over the Muslims and the Muslims would be a witness over other mankind. Therefore, the Muslims must establish prayer, pay zakat, and hold firmly to the religion of Allah (Islam). He is the Protector of the believers. Verily, He is the best of protectors and the best of helpers.
