Day 199 · Surah Al-Furqan Verses 1-11

Al-Furqan 1–11

The Qur'an is said to have descended from the One Most Blessed as a warning for jinn and mankind, while its deniers accuse it of being tales and doubt the prophethood of the Prophet because he eats and goes to the market.

The Qur'an was sent down by Allah who owns the heavens and earth, does not have offspring, does not have partners, and determines a measure for all His creatures.
The gods of the polytheists create nothing even though they are themselves created, unable to prevent harm or bring benefit to themselves.
They accuse the Qur'an of being a falsehood aided by others and as tales recited to the Prophet morning and evening.
They doubt the prophethood of the Prophet because he still eats, walks to the market, is not accompanied by an angel, and is not given wealth or extensive gardens from the sky.
Allah has the power to give him gardens with flowing rivers and palaces, but they still will not believe in the Day of Resurrection so Hellfire is prepared for them.

Verses 1 and 2 of Surah Al-Furqan explain that the Qur'an (Al-Furqan) was sent down by Allah who is Most Blessed. Therefore, the Qur'an is full of blessings. Reading it produces blessings for the reader, especially understanding and practicing it, then life will be filled with blessings.

The Qur'an was sent down to be a warning for all jinn and mankind, so they understand the consequences of life that deviates from the Qur'an. It was sent down by Allah who owns the heavens and earth, has no offspring, and no partner to Him, and He creates all things and determines its measure or quantity.

Verses 3-11 explain three important issues, namely:

The behavior of polytheists and disbelievers
The power and truth of Allah
The truth of the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.

Polytheists worship false gods other than Allah. Yet these gods cannot create anything and they themselves are created, unable even to prevent harm and unable to bring benefit to themselves. How much less to control death and resurrection.

Disbelievers also accuse the Qur'an of being a lie fabricated by the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, and aided by others. By speaking like this, they have committed injustice and spread false news. They also say the Qur'an is a collection of tales that is written, then recited to Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, every morning and evening. Therefore, Allah commanded the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, to explain to them that the Qur'an was sent down by Allah who knows the secrets of the heavens and earth.

The Qur'an was sent down so mankind could obtain forgiveness and mercy from Allah. The disbelievers also doubt the prophethood of Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, because the messenger still eats, goes to the market, is not accompanied by an angel in giving warnings, has no wealth given to him from the sky, and does not have extensive gardens. Because of this, they accuse him of following a sorcerer. All the accusations they level at the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, cause them to be lost so they cannot find the right path.

Allah is All-Powerful to create gardens with rivers flowing beneath them for Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, and also palaces. Even if Allah manifested them, the disbelievers would not believe in the Day of Resurrection. Allah has prepared Hellfire for those who do not believe in it.
