Al-Furqan 56–77
After emphasizing the messenger's task as a bringer of glad tidings and warning, the characteristics of Allah's servants the Most Merciful are detailed along with the reward of a great house in Paradise for them.
Verses 56-62 explain the task of the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, is to give good news to the believers and to warn the disbelievers. Allah teaches the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, not to expect worldly compensation from all his preaching activities, but to hope that mankind will follow Allah's path in this life. His main capital is to put his trust in Allah who is alive and will not die. The affairs of mankind's evil and sin are Allah's concern and He knows them fully. He created the heavens and earth and all that is between them in six days (periods), then took His seat on the Throne. He is the Most Merciful. What Allah mentions in the Qur'an is the truth.
The disbelievers do not want to be commanded to prostrate to the Most Merciful. In fact, they ask: Who is the Most Merciful? How can we prostrate to what Muhammad commands? Such speech only takes them further from Allah. Blessed is Allah who created the stars in the sky, the shining sun and the gleaming moon. He created night and day succeeding each other for those who want to make it a lesson and be grateful to Him.
Verses 63-67 explain the characteristics of Allah's servants who obey Him:
Verses 68-77 continue explaining the characteristics of Allah's servants who obey Him and the reward for them in the hereafter:
These are the characteristics of the servants of Allah the Most Merciful or 'Ibadurrahman'. Allah will prepare for them a great house in Paradise as a reward for their patience in obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. They will be welcomed in Paradise with honor and greetings of peace. They will remain in it. That is the best place of rest and dwelling for them. On the contrary, Allah will not care about the disbelievers because they do not affirm the oneness of Allah in worship, reject the Qur'an and the messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. They are accompanied by eternal punishment.
