Asy-Syu'ara' 112–136
Noah rejected expelling his followers who were deemed lowly, then he was saved when his people were drowned, followed by the people of Ad who built magnificent palaces yet still rejected the call of Prophet Hud.
Verses 112-122 continue the story of Prophet Noah with his people. Noah explained that his followers were noble in the sight of Allah, even though they did not have much wealth and high status in society, because they believed in Him and His Messenger. Noah could not expel people who had already believed in him because he hoped that the leaders of his people would become his followers.
Seeing Noah constantly preaching, they determined to kill him by stoning. Then Noah prayed to Allah to judge his case with his people and save him along with his believing followers. Allah granted Noah's request and saved him and his believing followers and drowned all others. That event should have been a lesson for mankind after them. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty and All-Compassionate.
Verses 123-136 explain the story of the disbelief of the people of Ad, Prophet Hud, and the people of Ad who did not want to be God-conscious of Allah, did not obey Him, and did not obey Noah, though Prophet Hud did not take any compensation from them and only hoped for reward from Allah. Instead, they built tall buildings for self-aggrandisement and great palaces hoping for eternal life. When they tortured people, they did so with cruelty and brutality.
Prophet Hud persistently called them to be God-conscious of Allah and obey Him who had granted them various needs: livestock, children, gardens, and springs. Hud feared they would be struck by a great punishment if they continued to rebel against him and Allah. They answered him instead: For us, whether you advise us or not is the same, we will not believe.
