Al-Ahzab 51–62

Etiquette in dealing with the Messenger is explained in detail — from seeking permission to enter his house, not lingering after eating, to the command to send blessings upon him.

• The Prophet is allowed to regulate the turn of his wives at night, but he carries it out so that their hearts are content.
• After this verse was revealed, the Prophet was forbidden to add to or replace his wife even if her beauty impressed him.
• The believers may not enter the Prophet's house without permission, may not wait for food to cook, and must leave after eating.
• Requests from the Prophet's wives must be made from behind a curtain, and they cannot be married because they have the status of mothers of the believers.
• Hurting the Messenger brings curse, hurting a believer without fault is a clear sin, and covering the 'awrah is obligatory for Muslim women.

Verses 51 and 52 continue the ruling in the previous verses regarding Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the believers. Allah allows the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to choose women who come to be married to him and allows him to regulate the turn of his wives at night. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) still implements the system of night turns so that the hearts of his wives are content, not sad and satisfied. After this verse was revealed, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was forbidden to marry again or replace his wife with another wife even if her beauty impressed him, except for slave girls who are still permissible.

Verses 53 and 54 explain the etiquette of the believers toward the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Among them is that one may not enter the house of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) unless after being permitted and may not wait for the food to cook. If invited to eat, leave after eating and do not engage in long conversation, because it bothers and embarrasses the Prophet. If you need something from his wives, ask from behind the hijab and do not marry them because their status is as mothers to the believers. Allah knows whatever we show or hide.

Verse 55 continues the etiquette of the believers with the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wives. There is no blame on his wives if they appear without hijab before their fathers, sons, brothers, nephews from brothers, nephews from sisters, believing women and their slaves. This is part of taqwa of Allah.

Verse 56 explains that Allah commands the believers to send blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as Allah and His angels send blessings upon him.

Verses 57 and 58 explain that Allah threatens those who neglect His commands and violate His prohibitions and hurt His Messenger with curse in this world and the Hereafter (Hellfire). Those who hurt the believers and believing women without any fault they committed, then those people have committed a clear lie and sin.

Verse 59 explains the obligation to cover the 'awrah for the wives of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), their daughters and other believing women.

Verses 60-62 explain that Allah commands the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to control the hypocrites, criminals and spreaders of false news in Medina, if they do not stop and should not befriend them. This is Allah's decree for the hypocrites as it was also for the nations before.
