Al-Baqarah 283–286
Debt during travel may be guaranteed with items or enough with mutual trust, then the chapter ends with an affirmation that the heavens and earth belong to Allah and faith as the foundation.
Verse 283 is still speaking about Islam's economic system that requires its implementation professionally. Among them, if traveling to another country and there is no one who can be a recorder (notary) of it, then it is permissible to apply the system of guarantee. However, if they trust each other and have the quality of God-consciousness (taqwā), then it is permissible without guarantee. The one given a loan should be trustworthy in fulfilling the loan. The one who is a witness should be honest in his testimony. Never hide your testimony, because hiding testimony is a sign that your heart is still impure and likes to harbor ill intentions. Allah knows what we do.
Verses 284-286 affirm the basic principle of Islam, including its economy which is based on 'Allah is the Owner of all that is in the heavens and on earth'. Wealth is, in essence, the property of Allah which is entrusted to whom He wills. Because of this, there is no system of life that exceeds the sophistication of the system created by the Owner of the heavens and earth, namely Allah the Exalted. That system of life has also been entrusted to His Messengers to explain to humanity and be implemented in life, including what was brought by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Faith in Allah, His Messengers, His angels, His books and the Hereafter becomes an absolute foundation in the implementation of the economic system and other systems. In its implementation, we can carry it out gradually and carefully planned. The key is that we must work hard to understand and implement it. May Allah forgive us for our mistakes, our weaknesses and help us from the threats and obstacles of the disbelievers in implementing Islam's system.
