Asy-Syura 16–31

One who aims for the Hereafter receives its increase while the pursuer of this world gets the world but loses in the Hereafter, and provision is deliberately limited to prevent people from committing injustice.

Objections against the truth of Islam are useless before Allah and bring His anger and painful punishment.
The time of the Day of Judgment is kept secret so the disbelievers challenge it while believers fear it because they know its severity.
Whoever has strong desire for success in the Hereafter, Allah adds to his success in it, while whoever desires success in this world, Allah gives him the world but he loses in the Hereafter.
In preaching one should not expect worldly reward, and close relatives should be prioritized.
Provision is limited because abundance for everyone would make them commit injustice, and rain is sent when people have lost hope.

Verses 16-22 explain four matters:

Those who dispute the truth of Islam after it has become the religion of people, their dispute is useless in Allah's sight. Allah is angry at those who dispute the truth of His religion (Islam) and has prepared for them painful punishment in Hellfire.
Allah revealed the Qur'an bringing the truth and justice. Allah keeps secret when the Day of Judgment will occur and it could be near. The disbelievers challenge it to come soon. As for believers, they are very fearful because they know its severity. Those who deny the Day of Judgment are in far error. Yet Allah is Gentle with His servants. He provides for whomever He wills. Indeed Allah is Mighty and Powerful.
Whoever has strong desire for success in the Hereafter, Allah will add to his success in it. But whoever has strong desire for success in this world, Allah gives him success in this world, but in the Hereafter he will get nothing.
The gods they worship cannot establish a Shariah (system) for their worshippers.
If Allah has not decreed postponement for them, the matter would have been decided against them in this world. The disbelievers and polytheists will receive painful punishment in Hellfire. They will be terrified of the punishment befalling them because of the transgressions they committed in this world. As for the believers who do righteous deeds, they are in gardens of Paradise. They get whatever they desire from their Lord Creator. That is the great grace of Allah.

Verses 23-31 explain the following:

The Paradise described in the previous verse is good news from Allah for the believers who do righteous deeds. So in preaching, one should not expect worldly reward. Close relatives should be prioritized in preaching. Good deeds will be rewarded by Allah far better.
The disbelievers accuse the Messenger of lying to Allah. If the Messenger were lying, Allah would surely seal his heart.
Allah desires to nullify falsehood and establish the truth through the Messenger. Allah knows what is in the hearts. He accepts the repentance of His servants, pardons their sins, knows what they do, answers the supplication of the believers who do righteous deeds, and increases His grace to them. But for the disbelievers is severe punishment.
If Allah expanded provision for all His servants, they would surely commit injustice. Therefore, Allah limits it according to His will, for He is aware and seeing. He sends down rain when people have lost hope, spreading it as a mercy upon people. He is the Protector and the Praiseworthy.
Among the signs of Allah's greatness is the creation of the heavens, earth, and creatures He has spread over both. He is able to gather mankind whenever He wills. Calamities that befall are a result of their own deeds, and Allah pardons many sins. The disbelievers cannot weaken Allah on earth. They will have no protector and helper besides Allah.
