Day 288 · Surah Al-Ahqaf Verses 29-35

Al-Ahqaf 29–35

A group of jinn heard the Qur'an and returned to warn their people, followed by affirmation that He who created the heavens and the earth is certainly able to bring the dead back to life.

• A group of jinn were directed to listen to the Qur'an from the Messenger, then returned to their people to give warning.
• They called their people to believe in the Qur'an that was revealed after the Torah and the Gospel because it shows the right and straight path, so they may obtain forgiveness and protection from the punishment of the Fire.
• Those who refuse this call cannot weaken the will of Allah, will not receive help, and are in clear misguidance.
• The disbelievers do not realize that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth with ease, is certainly able to resurrect them after death.
• The Messenger is commanded to be patient like the resolute messengers and not to hasten in asking for punishment, for in due time they will also perish.

Verses 29-35 explain three things:

1. Allah directed a group of jinn to listen to the Qur'an from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). After that, they returned to their people to give warning. They called their people to believe and act upon the Qur'an revealed after the Torah and the Gospel because the Qur'an shows the right and straight path. They also invited their people to accept the call of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to Allah and believe in him so they may receive Allah's forgiveness and protection from the severe punishment of the Fire. For those who refuse, they cannot weaken the will of Allah, will not receive His help, and are in clear misguidance.
2. The disbelievers cannot understand that Allah created the heavens and the earth with ease. Similarly, Allah is certainly able to bring them back to life after death on the Day of Resurrection. Truly, Allah has power over all things. Later they will acknowledge the truth of Allah's threat of punishment when they are presented to the Fire. It will be said to them: Taste the punishment of the Fire because you denied its truth.
3. Allah commands the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to be patient like the messengers of strong will (the resolute ones) and not to hasten in asking for punishment for them. In due time, they too will perish.
