Ali 'Imran 46–61
The story of Isa and Maryam is laid out: birth without a father, the miracles of Isa, his call to worship only Allah, until his salvation from the plots of those who wanted to kill him.
Verses 46-52 continue the story of Isa and Maryam. Isa was given by Allah the ability to speak since he was a baby and when grown up became a righteous man. Maryam was amazed too while saying: O my Lord! How can I have a child when no man has ever touched me? Allah answered: It is easy for Allah. When Allah wills, He need only say 'Be', then what He wills is realized.
Allah taught Isa the Scripture, wisdom, the Torah and Gospel. Then Allah raised him as His Messenger specially to the Bani Israel. Allah gave him knowledge and the ability to create a bird from clay, heal the blind, those afflicted with leprosy, revive the dead, know what they eat and what they store in their houses. All of that is excellence that Allah gave him because of his extraordinary faith in Allah. In the story of Maryam and Isa there is proof of Allah's power for the believers.
The revelation that Allah gave him became the system of life for his community. Explaining what is lawful and what is forbidden. Isa was supported by miracles, so that his community would be conscious of Allah and obedient to Him. Isa explained that his Creator and the Creator of his community is the only one worthy of worship, not himself or his mother. That is the straight religion. When Isa saw disbelief from some of his community, he said: Who will be my supporters in the cause of Allah? The Disciples (Hawariyyun) answered: We O Isa. Testify that we are Muslim.
Verses 53-61 continue the story of Isa and the Disciples. Seeing the abundance of people who disbelieve in Isa, they prayed: O our Lord! We have believed in the Gospel that You revealed, we follow the teachings of Isa and make us among those who bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except You.
The people of Isa who disbelieved in him plotted to kill Isa who refused to collaborate with the disbelieving rulers at that time. Allah too plotted against them by creating the face of one of the disbelieving people of Isa to resemble the face of Isa. Then they killed him.
Allah caused Isa to die, raised him to the heavens, saved him from the evil of the disbelievers and made the Disciples superior to their disbelieving people on the Day of Resurrection. On the Day of Judgment Allah will judge between them regarding what they differed about. Those who disbelieved in Isa will receive the punishment of Hell. While those who believed in him as a Prophet and Messenger and did good deeds, then they will receive the reward of Paradise.
All that news Allah told to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is part of the signs of Allah's greatness recorded in the Qur'an full of wisdom.
The creation of Isa in Allah's sight is just like the creation of Adam; created from earth, then Allah said 'Be', then he came to be. There is no reason to deify Isa. The true news about Isa is that which comes from Allah. If there are People of the Book who argue about the truth of that news, then invite them to 'mubahalah' (mutual invocation of Allah's curse).
