Al-Hadid 1–11

Allah's power that encompasses heaven and earth is made the basis for a call to believe and spend, with affirmation that the wealth that is spent is actually His which is entrusted.

• All that is in heaven and on earth submit to Allah's decree, the Owner of the kingdom of heaven and earth, who causes death and gives life.
• He is described as the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, knowing what enters and exits the earth and what descends and ascends to heaven.
• Allah is with mankind wherever they are, bringing night into day and vice versa, and knowing the whispers of hearts.
• There is no reason for weak faith for the Messenger himself calls and has taken a pledge from them, while clear verses are sent down to bring mankind out of darkness into light.
• Those who spend and struggle before the Conquest of Mecca have a higher degree than those after it, though both are promised Paradise, and spending is likened to giving a loan that is multiplied.

Verses 1-3 of Surah Al-Hadid explain that all creatures in heaven and on earth obey Allah's system. Allah is All-Mighty and All-Wise. He is the Owner of the kingdom of heaven and earth, He causes death and gives life and He has power over all things. He is the First, the Last, the Manifest, the Hidden and All-Knowing of all things.

Verses 4-6 continue the previous verses regarding Allah's Power. He created heaven and earth in 6 days, then He established Himself on the Throne, knowing what enters into the earth and what comes out from it, what descends from heaven and what ascends to it. Allah is with mankind wherever they are and He sees all that they do. Therefore, Allah is the Owner of the kingdom of heaven and earth and to Him all affairs are returned. He is the One who brings night into day and day into night and He sees the whispers of our hearts.

Verses 7-11 explain the obligation to believe in Allah and His Messenger and to spend in His way from part of the wealth He has given to the believers. Allah has prepared for them a very great reward. There is no reason for faith in Allah to be weak for the Messenger himself calls to believe and has taken the oath from them. Besides, Allah sent down to the Messenger clear verses of the Qur'an so they come out from the darkness of ignorance to the light of Islam. That is because Allah is Most Compassionate and Most Merciful to His servants.

There is also no reason for the believers not to spend in the way of Allah, for Allah is the Owner of wealth in heaven and on earth. Therefore, it is not equal between the believers who spend and fight before the Conquest of Mecca. Their degree is far greater than the believers who spend and fight after the Conquest of Mecca. However, each of them Allah promises to enter Paradise. Allah knows all that we do. Spending in the way of Allah is like giving a loan to Him. He will multiply the reward for him and he will receive the reward of Paradise.
