At-Tahrim 8–12
The path to safety of the believer family is sincere repentance, then two profiles of women are placed side by side: the wives of Nuh and Lut who betrayed, and Asiah and Maryam who were steadfast.
Verse 8 continues the previous verse regarding the main program of the believer family. To be safe from Hell, make your family a family that is always obedient and repents to Allah with true repentance. Thus, Allah will forgive the sins of the members of our family and enter us into the Garden beneath which rivers flow. On the Day of Judgment, they are given by Allah light before them and on their right. At that time they ask Allah to perfect the light for them and forgive them.
Verse 9 explains that Allah commands the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to fight the disbelievers and hypocrites and suppress them harshly. Their place of return is Hell. That is the worst of places.
Verses 10-12 of Surah At-Tahrim explain two profiles of women in the world, namely the profile of bad women and the profile of good women. The profile of bad women is an example for the disbelievers, while the profile of good women is an example for the believers. The profile of bad women is exemplified by Allah with the wives of Prophet Nuh and Prophet Lut. Both wives of the two prophets were under the leadership of two righteous servants. Both wives of the two prophets betrayed and disobeyed them, so they became candidates for Hell.
As for the profile of good women, it is Asiah, the wife of Pharaoh. Even though she lived in a royal palace and abundant luxury, she was not affected at all and she preferred the pleasure of the Hereafter and asked Allah to build for her a house in Paradise. For that, she asked Allah to save her from Pharaoh and his wickedness and the wickedness of the oppressive people. Another good woman profile is Maryam bint Imran. She was able to protect her chastity from committing adultery. Allah breathed into her womb part of His Spirit so she conceived and gave birth to Prophet Isa. Maryam believed in the greatness of Allah and His revelation. Therefore, she is among the women obedient to Allah.
