An-Naba' 1–40

Daily matters — sleep as rest, dark night, day for earning livelihood, rain from clouds — serve as proof that the Day of Judgment need not be doubted.

• The earth spread out, mountains as pegs, humans created as pairs, sleep for rest, dark night, and day for seeking livelihood are cited as proofs of Divine power.
• The seven firmly established heavens, the sun as a lamp, and rain poured down from clouds nurturing grain and flourishing gardens.
• The Day of Separation between believers and disbelievers has a determined time; the trumpet is blown, mankind comes in multitudes, the sky is torn apart, and mountains crumble into dust.
• Hellfire becomes the return of the transgressors, neither cool breeze nor drink except boiling water and pus, because in the world they rejected the Qur'an as their way of life.
• The God-conscious achieve great success with Paradise as reward for faith and righteous deeds, while the disbelievers regret and wish they were merely dust.

Verses 1-30 of Surah An-Naba' explain:

1. The event of the Day of Judgment need not be doubted, as evidence of Allah's power can be witnessed in nature: the earth spread out, mountains as pegs of the earth, humans created in pairs, sleep for rest, dark night, day for seeking livelihood, above are seven firmly established heavens, the sun as a lamp illuminating the earth, rain poured from clouds to grow grain and make gardens flourish.
2. The Day of Separation between the believers and disbelievers (the Day of Judgment) has a determined time. On that Day the trumpet is blown, mankind comes in multitudes, the sky is torn apart and mountains crumble into dust.
3. Hellfire always awaits and becomes the return of those who transgress Allah's system. They dwell in it, given neither cool breeze nor drink except boiling water and pus, as a fitting reward. They in the world had no hope in the afterlife, they rejected the Qur'an harshly and refused to make it their way of life.
4. Allah records all deeds of mankind in their books of deeds. Those who disbelieve in Him will experience the punishment of Hellfire that increases over time.

Verses 31-40 explain that the God-conscious achieve great success on the Day of Judgment. They enter Paradise with all the special amenities described in Surah Al-Waqi'ah and others. Paradise is a reward for faith and righteous deeds. On the Day of Judgment it becomes clear that Allah is the sole Sovereign of the universe. On that Day the disbelievers regret and wish to be merely dust.
