Day 357 · Surah Al-Humazah Verses 1-9, Al-Fil Verses 1-5, and Quraish Verses 1-4

Al-Humazah 1–9, Al-Fil 1–5, Quraisy 1–4

The backbiter who thinks his wealth makes him eternal is threatened with Hellfire, the elephant army of Abrahah is destroyed by birds carrying hot stones, and the blessing of Quraish's trading journey is reminded.

• Wretchedness is established for one who likes to slander and backbite while accumulating wealth and counting it because he thinks wealth makes him eternal.
• They are cast into Hellfire called Hutamah, a fire that burns until it reaches the heart then covers them while they are tied to long poles.
• The elephant army led by Abrahah which intended to destroy the Ka'bah was destroyed by a flock of birds throwing hot stones, in the year of the birth of the Prophet.
• This incident became a lesson that conspiracy to destroy the religion of Allah is never allowed to pass.
• The Quraish were blessed with the ability to trade to Yemen in winter and to Syria in summer, so they should worship the Owner of the Ka'bah who relieved them from hunger and gave them security.

Verses 1-9 of Surah Al-Humazah explain that wretched is one who slanders and backbites people while accumulating wealth and counting it. He thinks wealth can make him eternal on earth. Never. They will be cast into Hellfire called Hutamah, namely the fire of Allah that blazes which burns them until the heart and the fire covers them, while they are bound to long poles.

Verses 1-5 of Surah Al-Fil explain how Allah destroyed the elephant army led by Abrahah from Yemen because he wanted to destroy the Ka'bah. Allah sent a flock of birds that threw hot stones at them. Allah destroyed them so that they became like leaves eaten by worms. This incident occurred in the year of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

This incident provides an important lesson for the believers that Allah never remains silent toward the conspiracies of the disbelievers to destroy the religion and the manifestation of His Greatness on earth.

Verses 1-4 of Surah Quraish explain that among the blessings of Allah to Quraish is the ability He gave them to trade in winter to Yemen and in summer to Syria. Therefore, it is fitting that they worship only Allah, the Owner of the Ka'bah who relieved them from hunger and gave them security.
