Day 71 · Surah Al-An'am Verses 69-81

Al-An'am 69–81

The command to avoid those who make religion into a game is connected to the story of Ibrahim who rebuked his father about idols and concluded by himself that only the Creator is worthy of worship.

Believers are not responsible for the disbelief of others but are still obligated to warn them, and are commanded to abandon those who make religion into a game.
They are reminded of the Day of Recompense when ransom is no longer useful, and are asked does it make sense to worship something that brings neither benefit nor prevents harm.
Ibrahim spoke plainly to his father, Azar, that the idols he worshipped are the wrong target and they are in clear misguidance.
Allah showed him the creation of the celestial and earthly bodies until he was sure and detached himself from his people's polytheism.
Ibrahim refuted his people's objections by stating he only fears Allah, not carved idols, and safety is achieved only by those who believe.

Verses 69-73 remind the believers about those who mock the Qur'an, the Messenger and Islam.

Not responsible for the disbelief of the disbelievers. But obligated to warn them.
Abandon those who make their religion into play and amusement and are deceived by worldly life. Remind them of the Day of Recompense where there is no helper or protector except Allah, ransom no longer useful and their drink in hell is fire.
Tell them, does it make sense for man to worship a god who cannot bring benefit and cannot prevent harm.
Believers must be careful against Satan's temptation so he can make them confused and return to polytheism after receiving guidance from Allah.
The obligation to convey to mankind that the true guidance is the Qur'an and the believers are commanded to submit completely to the Lord Creator of the universe.
For those who accept the Qur'an as guidance and enter Islam, then teach them prayer and fear of Allah because eventually all mankind will be returned to Him.
Invite mankind to truly know their Creator, the Lord of the heavens and earth. The Qur'an is His true word. He is the Absolute Ruler on the Day of Judgment. He knows the unseen and the seen and is All-Wise and All-Knowing.

Verses 74-81 teach us the reality of monotheism and the method of struggle of Ibrahim, Father of Monotheism, in calling mankind to monotheism and abandoning polytheism. Ibrahim said loudly without hesitation, even to his father named Azar. Ibrahim said, 'The idols you worship are the wrong target. I am certain that you and your people are in clear misguidance.'

To assure Ibrahim in carrying out the calling to Tawhid that is full of challenges and threats, Allah showed him the system of creation of the celestial and earthly bodies, until he was sure that everything was created by Allah. He also believed that if Allah had not guided him, he would surely have been misguided like his father and people. He then detached himself from their polytheism.

Ibrahim also reached the conclusion that he must prostrate and obey only Allah, and stated to his people that he is not of those who associate partners with Allah.

Ibrahim easily refuted the arguments of his people who debated him about Allah. He only fears Him because His knowledge encompasses all things, not their gods, for they are only idols carved, including by his father. The polytheists should be the ones who fear Allah because they associate partners with Him. Which group of mankind has more right to feel safe? The believers or the polytheists? Only the believers achieve safety in their hearts.
