Day 73 · Surah Al-An'am Verses 95-110

Al-An'am 95–110

The signs of Allah's power are detailed from the splitting of seeds, the alternation of night and day, to vineyards of grapes and olives, accompanied by the prohibition of mocking the gods of others.

• Allah splits the seeds, brings forth the living from the dead, brings forth the dead from the living, reveals the dawn, and makes the night for rest.
• The sun and moon become the basis for calculating time, while the stars become a guide for direction in the darkness of land and sea.
• Rain is sent down from the sky then grows seeds with layers, palm trunks that extend, and gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates.
• It is impossible for Allah to have a child while He has no wife, and He is not reached by the sight of eyes yet He reaches all sights.
• The believers are prohibited from mocking the gods of others besides Allah lest they mock Allah without knowledge, and those who refuse to understand the signs will still not believe even if they see miracles.

Verses 95-101 teach us to build strong monotheistic creed in ourselves by studying the details of Allah's creation in His various creations. Among these Allah splits seeds of grains and fruit seeds, brings forth the living from the dead, brings forth the dead from the living, splits the dawn with light, makes the night for rest, the sun and moon as the basis for calculating time, months and years, stars in the sky as guides for the path in the darkness of night, both on land and sea, creating man from one self (Adam), earth as a place for mankind to settle and contains the needs of human life, sending down water from the sky, then with that water Allah grows various plants, green plants brought forth by Allah from it with multilayered seeds, palm trunks that extend, gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates that resemble and do not resemble.

Then, why do people still associate partners with Allah with demons and various other unseen beings (superstitions), while all are creatures of Allah? Jinn and demons give false news to mankind. Glorified be Allah from what they describe. Allah is the Creator of the heavens and earth. How can Allah have a child when He has no need of a wife. He is the Creator of all things and is All-Knowing of all things.

Verses 102 and 103 continue the discussion of Allah's attributes and power. Among these, Allah is the Creator of mankind and all things, there is no god worthy of worship except Him and the Sustainer of all things. Not seen by the eye, but Allah encompasses our sight. He is Most Gentle toward His servants yet Most Knowing of their nature. Verses 104-110 explain:

1. Allah gives mankind the Qur'an as proof (evidence). With the Qur'an, mankind are able to see that truth is truth and falsehood is falsehood.
2. Allah creates proofs of His power in the heavens and on earth and explains it most clearly to those who wish to learn.
3. We are obligated to follow the guidance of the Qur'an, acknowledge His oneness and avoid the behavior of those who associate partners with Allah and continue to call to Him.
4. Allah prohibits mocking the worshippers of other gods, because it can cause them to mock Allah out of enmity and without knowledge.
5. Those who do not wish to understand the verses of Allah in the heavens and on earth and have been possessed by polytheism are very difficult to believe, even if they see miracles from Allah as happened to most of the Bani Israel. It is because of this disbelief and polytheism that Allah turned their hearts and sight away from understanding the truth of the Qur'an and Allah also leaves them confused in their misguidance.
