90. Al-Mani' — The Preventer
He is the One who repels the causes of ruin and deficiency from body, wealth, and religion. And there is also the opinion that the meaning of Al-Mani' is the One who prevents from someone, so that none can reject what He gives, and none can give what He rejects.
It is said regarding the meaning of preventing the causes of ruin and deficiency, that He is the One who repels its causes by creating the causes He has prepared for sustenance and protection. This has been explained in the chapter that discusses the meaning of the nameAl-Hafiz.There is no difference between the two. Only that prevention (al-man')is in addition to the causes that bring harm, while Al-Hafiz is in addition to what is protected from ruin. That is the meaning and purpose of prevention (al-man'),if prevention (al-man')is meant for sustenance, while preservation (al-hifz)is not meant for prevention (al-man').Every one that preserves prevents, and not every one that prevents due to the causes of ruin and deficiency achieves preservation from corruption.
To conduct oneself with this name requires you not to ask anyone but Allah, the Most High, for all your needs, and do not be deceived by the giving of anyone else, for that giving is only a means while the True Giver is Allah, the Most High.
Its benefit Whoever increases remembrance (dhikr) with this name, then all his requests will be fulfilled by Allah and He will repel harm from him.
