Supplication for Husnul Khatimah (A Good Ending)

This page collects supplications from the Qur'an that are made to seek a good ending or husnul khatimah.

One supplication contains an acknowledgment of faith after hearing the call to believe, along with a request for forgiveness and to be taken in death among the righteous.
Another supplication cites the prayer of the Prophet Musa who acknowledged that he had wronged himself and sought forgiveness from Allah.
There is also a supplication asking not to be punished for forgetfulness or error, and not to be burdened with what is beyond one's capacity.
The closing supplication contains an acknowledgment that mankind often wrongs themselves and will be losers if they do not receive forgiveness and mercy from Allah.

Supplication for Husnul Khatimah (a good ending)

رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلْإِيمَانِ أَنْ آمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَآمَنَّا رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ رَبَّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدْتَنَا عَلَى رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

Robbanaa innanaa sami'naa munaadiyay yunadii lil iimaani an aaminuu birobbikum fa-aamannaa, robbanaa faghfir lanaa dzunuubanaa wakaffir 'annaaq sayyi-aatinaa watwaffanaa ma'al abroor, robbanaa wa aatinaa maa wa'attanaa 'alaa rusulika walaa tukhzinaa yaumal qiyaamah, innaka laa tukhliful mii'aad.

"Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous. Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in promise." (Qur'an 3:193-194).

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Robbii innii zholamtu nafsii faghfirlil faghofaro lah, innahuu huwal ghofuurur rohiim

"My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me." So Allah forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (Qur'an 28:16).

رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Robbanaa laa tu-aakhidznaa in nasiinaa au akhto`naa, robbanaa walaa tahmil 'alainaa ishron kamaa hamaltahuu 'alal ladziina min qoblinaa, robbanaa walaa tuhammilnaa maa laa thooqota lanaa bih, wa'fu 'annaa waghfirlanaa warhamnaa anta maulaanaa fanshurnaa 'alal qoumil kaafiriin

"Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Qur'an 2:286).

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Robbanaa zholamnaa anfusanaa wa illam taghfirlanaa watarhamnaa lanakuunanna minal khoosiriin

"Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." (Qur'an 7:23).
