Special Supplication for the Deceased

This page contains special supplications to be offered for the deceased, usually recited during the funeral prayer.

These supplications request that the deceased be forgiven, shown mercy, and cleansed from all wrongdoings like white cloth being cleansed of dirt.
The supplications also request that the deceased be given a dwelling, family, and spouse better than those left behind in this world, and be entered into Paradise and protected from the punishment of the grave and Hell.
The concluding part of the supplications includes request for forgiveness for all Muslims, both the living and the dead, and request that those left behind remain firm in faith.

اَللهُمَّ اغْفِرْلَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَاَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مَدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرْدِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ اْلاَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَاَبْدِلْهُ دَارًاخَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهِ وَاَهْلاً خَيْرًا مِنْ اَهْلِهِ وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ وَاَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَاَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَفِتْنَتِهِ وَمِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ. اَللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيْرَنَا وَكَبِيْرَنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَاُنْثَانَا. اَللهُمَّ مَنْ اَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَاَحْيِهِ عَلَى اْلاِسْلاَمِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى اْلاِيْمَانِ. اَللهُمَّ لاَتَحْرِمْنَا اَجْرَهُ وَلاَتُضِلَّنَا بَعْدَهُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَآاَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ. وَالْحَمْدُ ِللهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ.

ALLAAHUMMAGHFIRLAHU WARHAMHU WA'AAFIHII WA'FU ANHU WA AKRIM NUZULAHU WA WASSI' MADKHOLAHU WAGHSILHU BILMAAI WATS-TSALJI WALBARODI, WANAQQIHII MINAL KHOTHOOYAA KAMAA YUNAQQOTS TSAUBUL ABYADHU MINADDANAS, WA ABDILHU DAARON KHOIRON MIN DAARIHI WA AHLAN KHOIRON MIN AHLIHI WAZAUJAN KHOIRON MIN ZAOJIHI WA ADKHILHULJANNATA WA 'AIDZHU MIN 'ADZAABIL QOBRI WAFITNATIHI WAMIN 'ADZAABINNAAR. ALLOOHUMMAGHFIR LIHAYYINAA WAMAYYITINAA WASYAAHIDINAA WAGHOOIBINAA WASHOGHIIRINAA WAKABIIRINAA WADZAKARINAA WA UNTSAANAA. ALLOOHUMMA MAN AHYAITAHU MINNAA FA AHYIHI 'ALAL ISLAAM, WAMAN TAWAFFAITAHU MINNAA FATAWAFFAHU 'ALAL IIMAANI. ALLOOHUMMA LAA TAHRIMNAA AJROHU WALAA TUDHILLANAA BA'DAHU BIROHMATIKA YAA ARHAMAR ROOHIMIIN. WALHAMDU LILLAAHI ROBBIL 'AALAMIIN.

O Allah, forgive him, have mercy upon him, grant him well-being, and pardon him. Honor his place of arrival, expand his entrance, wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him from his sins as white cloth is cleansed of dirt. Replace his home with a better home than his home, and his family with a better family than his family, and his spouse with a better spouse than his spouse. Admit him to Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and its trials, and from the punishment of Hell. O Allah, forgive those among us who are alive and those who are deceased, those who are present and those who are absent, those who are young and those who are old, both males and females. O Allah, whomever You keep alive among us, keep him alive in Islam, and whomever You cause to die among us, cause him to die in faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward, and do not cause us to go astray after him. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all who show mercy. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all worlds.
