Prayer of the Prophet Musa When He Felt Afraid of Fir'aun
رَبِّ ٱشْرَحْ لِى صَدْرِى
Robbisyrohlii shodrii
"My Lord, expand for me my breast, and ease for me my task." (QS Thaahaa: 25)
According to the commentators, the Prophet Musa (peace be upon him), when he felt afraid of facing Fir'aun, asked Allah with this prayer.
رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى فَاغْفِرْ لِى
Robbi innii zholamtu nafsii faghfirlii
"My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me." (QS. Qashas: 16)
According to the commentators, this is the prayer recited by the Prophet Musa after he killed the Coptic man.
وَٱحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِى
Wahlul 'uqdatam mil lisaanii
"O our Lord, free me from a wrongdoing people." (QS Thaahaa: 27)
This is the prayer recited by the Prophet Musa when he left Egypt and headed toward Madyan.
رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ ....
Robbi innii limaa anzalta ilayya min khoirin faqiirun
"My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You send down to me." (QS. Al-Qashash: 24)
This is the prayer recited by the Prophet Musa when he arrived in Madyan and suffered from hunger.
رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِأَخِى وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِى رَحْمَتِكَ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَاحِمِيْنَ
Robbighfirlii wali-akhii wadkhilaa fii rohmatika wa anta arhamur roohimiin
"My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful." (QS. Al-A'raaf: 151)
أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْغٰفِرِينَ
Anta waliyyunaa faghfirlanaa warhamnaa wa anta khoirur roohimiin
"You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of forgivers. And ordain for us good in this world and in the Hereafter. Indeed, we have turned to You in repentance." (QS. Al-A'raaf: 155-156)
