Mistakes in Tawaf al-Wada for Hajj Pilgrims

Tawaf al-Wadaisthe tawafof farewell to the House of Allah because the pilgrim has completed all the pillars of Hajj as well as a final sign of respect to the House of Allah.

Mistakes in Tawaf al-Wada for Hajj Pilgrims:

1. Some Hajj pilgrims leave Mina on the day of departure (12th or 13th Dhul-Hijjah) before stoning the Jamrah and immediately perform Tawaf al-Wada'.

Then they return to Mina to stone the Jamrah. After that, they immediately leave to their respective countries. Thus, their final contact is with the places of the Jamrah, not with the House of Allah, whereas the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"Let no one leave (Makkah) before ending their meeting (by performing tawaf) at the House of Allah"(Narrated by Muslim).

Therefore, Tawaf al-Wada' must be performed after completing all Hajj acts and shortly before departure. After performing Tawaf al-Wada', one should not stay in Makkah except for a brief necessity.

2. After performing Tawaf al-Wada', some of them leave the Mosque by walking backward while facing the Ka'bah, thinking this is a sign of respect to the Ka'bah. This action is bid'ah (innovation), with no basis in religion at all.

3. When arriving at the door of the Sacred Mosque after performing Tawaf al-Wada', some of them turn towards the Ka'bah and recite various supplications as if saying goodbye to the Ka'bah. This too is bid'ah, not prescribed in the Shariah.
