Prophet Isa Will Be Killed and Crucified
The companions of Prophet Isa, called the Companions, numbered only 12. But among his 12 companions, there was one who apostatized and betrayed him, namely Yahuza or Iscariot. Because of Yahuza's instigation, gradually many people were influenced and followed his call.
In proclaiming the religion of Allah, Prophet Isa faced strong challenges from the disbelieving Jews. They even consulted to capture and kill Prophet Isa. The leader of the disbelieving Jews was none other than Yahuza, the apostate companion of Prophet Isa.
At that time, the ruler of the entire land was King Herodes. He was a tyrant ruler and greatly opposed the call of Prophet Isa. King Herodes then ordered his troops to capture Prophet Isa and kill him. Thus Prophet Isa became hunted by the king's troops.
Prophet Isa was once cornered in a certain area. But the king's troops could not find his hiding place. Prophet Isa and his followers hid in an isolated place, so the king's troops failed to capture him for a long time.
But the traitor Yahuza apparently found Prophet Isa's hiding place. He immediately reported his findings to King Herodes to receive a large reward. The king then ordered his troops to follow Yahuza to Prophet Isa's hiding place.
The Story of Prophet Isa Will Be Killed and Crucified
Prophet Isa was helpless when the king's troops suddenly raided his hiding place, led by Yahuza. But Allah willed otherwise with His decree, Prophet Isa was raised by Allah to heaven to be saved from the evil of the disbelievers.
Meanwhile, Yahuza who led the king's troops was immediately changed by Allah to have a face similar to Prophet Isa. Then, when the king's troops saw him, Yahuza was immediately captured, although he struggled and defended himself.
Thus Yahuza could not prove that he was not Prophet Isa, because his face looked very similar. Moreover, the only person with Prophet Isa's face at that time was himself. There was no reason for the king's troops not to capture him and then bring him before King Herodes. By the king, this false Prophet Isa was sentenced to death by crucifixion on a wooden cross. Allah explained this event with His Word:
"And [for] their saying, 'Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah,' and they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in [great] doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. Rather, Allah raised him to himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.' (An-Nisa: 157)
Muslims reject the existence of crucifixion and death at the hands of Isa's enemies. The Qur'an explains that the Jews sought and killed Isa, but they did not succeed in killing and crucifying him. Isa was saved by Allah by being raised to heaven and placed in a place that only Allah knows. The Qur'an explains this event of salvation.
"But rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And Allah is ever Exalted in Might and Wise. (An-Nissa: 158)"
