Lessons from the Story of Prophet Hud That We Can Learn
Prophet Hud set a good example and system worthy of being followed and emulated by preachers and religious educators. He faced his proud and stubborn people with great patience, steadfastness, and magnanimity. He never responded to their mockery and harsh words in kind, but refuted them with gentle words that showed he could control his emotions and did not lose his composure or patience.
Prophet Hud was neither angry nor upset when his people mocked him by accusing him of having gone mad and lost his mind. He gently refuted their accusations and mockery by saying: "I am not mad, and your gods that you worship cannot harm me or disturb my mind in the least, but I am the messenger of Allah sent to you, and truly I am an honest advisor to you desiring your good and the welfare of your life and for you to be protected and saved from the punishment and torment of Allah in this world and in the Hereafter." In dialogue with his people, Prophet Hud always strived to appeal to their conscience and invited them to think rationally, using sound intellect and reason by providing evidence that could be accepted by their minds about the truth of his preaching and the misguidance of their way, but guidance is from Allah—He will grant it to whoever He wills.
