This article narrates the creation of Hawa from the rib of Adam and how the deception of Iblis led both of them to violate Allah's command until they were expelled from paradise.
The Creation of Hawa and the First Sin Committed
Iblis was expelled from paradise and Adam was placed in paradise. Adam would walk about in paradise alone, without a companion who could bring him peace, and he slept. When he awoke, there was a woman sitting near his head. Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) had created her from his rib.
Adam then asked her, "Who are you?" She answered, "A woman." Adam asked, "For what purpose were you created?" She answered, "So that you may feel at peace with me." Then the angels, seeing the knowledge that Allah had given Adam, said to him, "What is her name, O Adam?" He answered, "Hawa." They said again, "Why is she called Hawa?" Adam answered, "Because she was created from something living."
Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) commanded Adam and his wife Hawa to dwell in paradise and eat from its fruits wherever they wished, while avoiding a certain tree as a trial for both of them. He said,
"O Adam! Inhabit you and your wife the garden, and eat from its fruits plentifully and good wherever you desire, but do not approach this tree, lest you become of the wrongdoers." (Qur'an 2:35)
Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) also warned Adam and his wife not to be seduced by Iblis and reminded them of Iblis's enmity toward both of them. He said,
"O Adam! Indeed, this (Iblis) is an enemy to you and to your wife, so let him not drive you both out of the garden, lest you be wretched." (Qur'an 20:117)
Since he rebelled, Iblis was no longer permitted to dwell in paradise. Iblis's feelings of hatred and malice grew stronger. Iblis was not pleased to see Adam and Hawa happy. Therefore, Iblis sought an opportunity. He wanted to deceive them. In any case, Adam must also leave paradise. The opportunity was now there. The forbidden tree! Adam and Hawa were forbidden from approaching that tree. This was a golden opportunity that must not be wasted. Iblis felt very pleased. This was the moment to prove himself. Adam and Hawa would become losers. By any means, Adam and Hawa must be successfully led astray. Every stratagem must be employed.

Various stratagems were planned. First, Iblis had to gain their trust. He made an approach. He pretended to regard Adam and Hawa as friends. His words were charming. Various enticements were whispered by Iblis. He claimed that he wanted to give them advice.
He approached Adam and Hawa and said,
"O Adam! Shall I show you the tree of eternity and a kingdom that will not decay?" (Qur'an 20:120)
So Adam and Hawa believed Iblis's words because of his oath, for in their view there could be no one who would dare to swear falsely in the name of Allah. Thus Adam and Hawa went to the tree and ate from its fruit. At that moment a shocking thing happened; their 'awrah was exposed and they became naked due to their disobedience. They both felt great shame and sorrow. Quickly they went to the trees and picked leaves to cover their 'awrah. Then Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) said to Adam and Hawa,
"Did I not forbid you both from that tree and tell you, 'Indeed, Satan is to you a clear enemy'?" (Qur'an 7:22)
It was complete. Adam and Hawa violated the prohibition. Not only did they approach the forbidden tree, but they also ate from its fruit. Soon after, Adam and Hawa felt the consequences. Their 'awrah was exposed. The feeling of shame overwhelmed them. They tried to search for leaves. The purpose was to cover their 'awrah. However, the trees of paradise drew away. Fortunately, there was one tree that took pity on them. The fig tree was willing to give its leaves. Thus their 'awrah could be covered.

Adam and Hawa were very ashamed. Not only because their 'awrah was exposed. But also because of Allah's rebuke to them. Adam and Hawa were deeply regretful. They had committed a mistake. With tears streaming down, they made supplication.
"Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we shall surely be among the losers." (Qur'an 7:23)
After Adam and Hawa repented and asked for forgiveness, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) accepted their repentance and commanded both of them to descend to the earth and dwell therein.
